A few of my original displays that will soon change

One of my displays in my bedroom:

P&A Eternal Renewal of the Seasons (T51) Released: Spring 2000
“Paris, 18th Century Manuscript. Like a red jewel, shining in a treasury of botanicals, blooms this sensuous sprawl of peony. Chinese symbol of wealth.”

L & R FlowerTribute (T85) Released: Spring 2001 Retired: 12/01/2008
“A hydrangea cluster, delicate as spring stars crowning the night.”
.

Below is a border of tiles that I have displayed in my office / craft room.
From Left To Right:
T53 Chess King , T154 Black Spade, T158 King of Hearts,
T208 Ace of Spades,
T161 Qween of Hearts, T159 Club, T24 Chess Pawn

.
I think the center tile, Ace of Spades, will be replaced with my new T20 Target tile.
Then I will need to find a new home for the Ace of Spades.

Trip to Hedges in Chagrin Falls

On Valentine's Day I won this tile from the Sid Collectors boards.
Finally today we took the little one hour trip to Chagrin Falls to pick up my newest addition!
Thanks to another contest win I have acquired my 47th Sid Dickens Tile!
I have wanted this one for a very long time!
I was so pleased to find out there was one left at Hedges!
.

Target was released in 1998 long before I even discovered Sid Dickens.
On the back of the tile it reads:
(T20) "May all the true arrows of your intent find their perfect center."
I just love that!

In March 2011 it will be one full year since I have acquired a new Sid Dickens. The center tile “Scarlet” was the last tile added to my collection which was actually gifted to me from a http://www.sidcollectors.com/ member back in March of 2010. Coincidentally it was gifted to me on the actual day of my birthday last year and that was a really awesome surprise! Well March 30th is just around the corner and so a birthday present to myself doesn't sound like a bad idea! If I could only decide on which new tile I should get! My wish list is a mile long so I guess it is time to stop into my local distributors real soon and see what stock they currently have!

Sid Dickens Memory Blocks - Weekly Contest @ http://www.sidcollectors.com/

Once a week I submit a room design with hopes I will win. So far my designs have not gotten enough votes to win but, it has been fun participating. You have to be an active member of the boards to participate and to vote. Any duplicate votes from the same ip address gets the person's room design disqualified. Its honest fun and I wouldn't want to win by cheating. I just wanted to share this site and the contest info so other Sid Dickens collectors can be aware of the generosity the site administrator has to offer by becoming an active member of the boards! Here are some of my room designs that I have submitted into the weekly contests.

Newest Grouping of Sid Dickens

We got the newest tile hung yesterday. I am not positive about the looks of this grouping but, for now the three tiles will stay together. Nexus is the newest tile pictured on top. It's from the fall 2009 Enchantment collection. Storybook is in the center. It came from the 2007 spring Fabel collection. On the bottom is Musica. (Joe's least favorite) This tile came form the Spring 2002 Seduction of Color collection. I love all three tiles but, I am just not crazy about them displayed together. I may do some switching of tiles from my bedroom collection. I need to add my complete bedroom and office displays at some point to my blog. They are actually my favorite groupings but, the pictures I have taken just don't look all that great. I currently have 11 tiles in my office, 20 in my bedroom and 14 in my livingroom.

Sweetest Day 2009

Today I received a gift certificate to my local Sid Dickens retailer from my Lover Joe. While he stayed home watching college football I headed out to Details in Avon to pick out my newest tile. It took me less than a minute to decide which one was coming home with me. I chose T229 Nexus from the newest 2009 Fall Enchantment collection. I really like the saying on the back of this one. "There is a love between the sun and moon, Echoed in shadows; a reflection of our dreams." Since Sweetest Day is known as a day to show affection to the loved ones in your life I think this was a perfect pick to represent Joe & I. He and I are so much like the sun & moon. Opposites in most ways; however, we do share most of the same dreams. I now have 45 tiles displayed in my home but there is always room for more!

Sid Dickens Framed Trio

Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2008 marked my two year Sid Dickens collecting anniversary.
.
I now have 41 tiles in my collection and as of midnight tonight all 41 of them are displayed!
.
The newest and currently my lover's favorite display is the framed trio with Amore, Floating Red Hearts w/ Script and Destiny w/ red heart.
.
After doing some rearranging of displays last night we were left with only three tiles and wasn’t sure what to with them or where to even hang them. We laid them side by side each other on the floor and just like that we decided they belonged together.
.
This new display hangs to the right of the framed Home Shield in my Office / Craft Room.

My Sid Dickens Scrapbook

This is my generic Sid Dickens Scrapbook. I say generic because it's a simple binder with printed photo pages and particularly short on pizzazz! I started it almost two years ago after receiving my first tile. It originally started out as just a way of keeping track of my inventory. Now I want it to be so much more! I plan to completely redo it by using 3-d scrapbooking techniques and the typical scrapbooking embellishments. Finding the time to do this is one thing. Actually making one so unique would have to make me a true Sid addict for sure!
Currently in this book I keep my inventory list, pictures of my displays, sample pictures of other collector’s displays and information on how to obtain SID SAVERS for hanging the tiles.
If I remember I take this with me when we visit Sid retailers. It's a good conversation piece when discussing the blocks with the sales associates and store guests who I find admiring the tiles on display.

Sid DIckens "Bird In Flight"

T118 Garden of Light Spring 2003 Collection.

I fell in love with this tile the first moment I saw it. It reminded me of something I wrote more than a decade ago.

"When I leave this earth" was the very first journal entry I wrote in my "When I Die" book. In this book I list who I want my "special" things to be passed onto when I leave this earth and go the the glorious heavens above. `

When I leave this earth...
When I spread my wings and fly to the heavens above,
May all my worldly possessions be kept with love.
For all those whom I've loved,
I leave my most cherished belongings.
May you keep them forever and close to your heart
And please remember me always.

Written By Susan Christine Naso
`
My mother, Susan Christine (Mazzeo Naso) Enzor is to receive this tile when I enter into God's gracious land. I am dedicating this tile in the memory of her mother, my grandmother, Irene Estelle Mazzeo who first started this passed on tradition of the "When I Die" book.

Sid Dickens In My Home

Below are some of the displays I have in my home.

The Home Shield Block was hung inside an empty glassless picture frame. I currently have this hung in my office / craft room.

The Silver Queen, Heart with Crown, and Silver King are hung above my bed. This was my very first Sid Dicken's display and also one of my favorites! The center tile "Play The Game of Love" was my very first tile in my collection. (given to me by my lover)

The last display is in my living room. 6 tiles to the left of the mirror and one tile off to the far right top corner.

.

Sids & Sushi

This morning my lover and I traveled to Chagrin Falls to one of my favorite Sid Dicken's retailers, http://www.hedgeschagrinfalls.com/. We couldn't leave without getting at least one new tile to add to our collection. After today's purchase we now have 39 tiles in all! The one we brought home today is called "Amour" (Telling of a siege committed by love) from the new fall 2008 "Tatoo" collection. I just LOVE it! After our Sid's shopping spree we stopped off at one of our favorite eateries for sushi! Sid's and sushi all in one day!

My Discovery of Sid Dickens Summer 2006

.
In the summer of 2006, while on a date with my lover, I discovered the Sid Dickens Memory Blocks at a store front in downtown Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
I had never heard of the artist or seen these tiles before that day. I remember asking the store associate many questions about who Sid Dickens was, where he was from and all about his art work. I probably spent close to an hour gazing at the displayed tiles in the gift shop.
Unfortunately, I did not purchase one that day and on the ride home I daydreamed about going back very soon to buy one or two.
Ever since that day I have desired to start collecting them. I became obsessed with siddickens.com and any website that showcased his tiles. I found myself doing daily eBay and Google searches of Sid Dickens just to see if there was anything new. I will admit I still do that now two years later.
I wasn't able to return to the store to make my first purchase. I started to think I would never get my collection started! Then to my surprise and shock on Christmas Eve my lover surprised me with two blocks to start my collection. The tiles were T66 and T01 which he purchased in Medina, Ohio at a store closer than the one we visited last summer in Chagrin Falls.
I am anxious to obtain more tiles and learn all there is to know about collecting them. As an amateur Sid Dickens collector, I am hoping to acquire some helpful Knowledge from the skilled collectors of the message boards I visit... http://www.sidcollectors.com/ and http://www.siddickenscollectors.com/ . I have made many online freinds in the US, Austrailia, New Zeland and Canada through these two sites. Some have been collecting sids for way many mores years than I have but there are some newbies like myself on there to chat with as well!
As of October 11, 2008, I have a total of 39 in my collection!
